Grabbing That Dream

We all have a dream. Some go after it aggressively while some sit around and wait on it, hoping it'll just fall into their laps while they twiddle their thumbs, and then bitch when it doesn't happen.

I won't say I'm not guilty of bitching about how some people seem to strike gold on their first attempt, or how some people just luck into their dream because then I would be lying.

However, I don't let my little bouts of envy get me down. My dream is pretty simple. I don't have to be rich. I don't have to be known by every reader in the world. Oprah doesn't have to read my book.

I just want to make a living doing what I love : Creating. I'm a crafter, a designer, an artist, and a storyteller. I don't know which part of the brain is the artistic side, but that's the side that I have shifted into full gear at all times.

I wasn't made to work for people. I can do it, just like I can eat broccoli. It doesn't mean I'm going to be happy about it. I would love nothing more than to work late into the night writing stories featuring these characters that constantly rent space in my head and sleep all day knowing my bills are paid, and I never had to leave home to get the money to do that.

I twiddled my thumbs for years before I finally plastered my butt to a chair and actually wrote a book, which I had to do if this dream was to have a shot. I didn't have to wait terribly long before I got published, but I started on the small press route. Obviously, that doesn't equate to big paychecks.

I am doing what I love though. I got published, which is one of the biggest steps in this mission. I can't begin to count how many aspiring authors don't make it that far becuse they give up to soon and let their dream float away.

Mine started to float away this past year. I let outside stuff get me down and shut down my ability to focus. As a result, I haven't finished anything since May of 2010. Not acceptable.

Getting published was awesome, but I still have a ways to go before my dream is achieved. My dream won't be recognized until I get that first royalty check that's good enough for me to quit the day job and become the hermit I've always longed to be. So now I am going to write. Every. Single. Day.

I'm working on Blood Revelation Book #5 and it has been giving me all sorts of trouble but I'm grabbing this big nasty bear by the scruff and I'm making it my bitch. I have a dream, dammit, and I'm getting that dream!!!

I hope you get yours, too. No mercy !!!

Happy 4th of July

I hate fireworks and I'm not too crazy about barbecue, but I LOVE my country and thank God for allowing me to be born an American.

Happy 4th of July, everyone!

As with all holidays, remember our soldiers and all they give to protect us.

I Want To Be A Ghost Hunter!

I've been watching Ghost Adventures and it seems like a cool gig. You just go to haunted places and record your visit. I can do that. I've already been to Waverly Hills where I happened to have my hair pulled and I saw some ghost chick watching us. I also took this picture of like a zillion orbs out on the roof.

I'm brave enough. I laid down on a slab in the morgue for fifteen minutes. I've had a ton of ghostly encounters thanks to having lived in a few haunted places. Ghosts seem to like me, maybe even seek me out. I've done a few crazy psychic things so maybe that has something to do with it. I don't know.

I know, I know... there are a bunch of "ghost hunter" shows on TV already, but they're generally male ghost hunters. I think it's time for a group of women to have a ghost hunting show, and not sissy women who want to scream at every little thing, or women who just have to have their boobs popping out their shirts or always conveniently find a way to fit in a bikini shot, which seems to be the only way women get on TV (like the new chick on Ice Road Truckers. Chick is in Alaska ad manages a bikini shot. Seriously? Give me a break.) shows.

All I need is to visit these haunted places with a camcorder, a digital recorder, some flashlights, and an EMF thingamadoohicker. These guys do it:

So can I ! Who's with me? ;)
